HEMA (an abbreviation for hydroxyethylmethacrylate) is a monomer, in other words, one of the building blocks of plastics, such as dental materials, contact lenses, inks or nail art products (gel polishes and gels).
It was created as a response to the needs of people struggling with a sensitive nail plate which prevented them from having a gel polish manicure done.
When it comes to color HEMA-free gel polish, aside from different chemical composition, it is more creamy.
The base coat is medium-thick, spreads easily, and it is applied the same way as any other gel polish.
No, it does not. The lack of HEMA in the product does not affect its durability or quality. HEMA is a monomer, in other words, one of the building blocks of plastics. As an ingredient of cosmetic products, HEMA serves an antistatic, conditioning and, above all, binding function. It means that it helps a layer of gel polish or gel to undergo a polymerization reaction, namely, cure in UV/LED light.

The new SoPRO series is rather thick. Its consistency is comparable to Premium series, but there’s no problem with the color pulling away from the free edge. The coverage is marvelous! It took me only two layers to cover the nail with normally very problematic pastel yellow – usually I need to apply three layers.
